In addition to furnace glass, I took up flame working. With flame working, instead of using a furnace of molten glass, I use rods and tubes of glass and use a torch to melt them, This kind of work is very scaled down compared to what I was used to, but the amount of detail you can achieve is much greater and something that really appeals to my aesthetic. It is also much more cost effective to run your own studio which allows me to work in my garage.
