In my work, I explore the endless techniques and variations of glass. The versatility of glass allows me to constantly explore the material and the way it naturally acts.
My past work refers more directly to the scientific investigation of the body, the vascular system, and medicine. I enjoy incorporating different techniques into my pieces, such as adding cast, flame-worked, and cold-worked glass elements. I’m interested in representing the body, because everyone in the world – no matter what language you speak - can relate to it. In a more recent series, called Contained Chaos, I strive to create a sense of tension between order and disorder. I use the free flowing fluidity of the glass to create chaotic patterns that are juxtaposed by tight clean geometric glass forms. This has been an ongoing series that is constantly evolving and being taken to the next level. |
